Academic work, business reports, user manuals, promotional material, newsletters, websites, blogs and fiction: my services are tailored to meet your needs.

Why do you need a proofreader?

Because you shouldn’t proofread your own work. You are too close to it, you know how it should read. You don’t always see how it actually reads.

What does a proofreader do?

Proofreading is the final check before your written word goes out to a wider audience. The last chance to ensure it’s as good as it can be.

Proofreading checks include: spelling (British English), punctuation, grammar, technical aspects, formatting and feedback.

A proofreader will correct any errors.

I will discuss your exact requirements with you to ensure you receive a personalised service. I can work on Word documents, PDFs and paper copy (British proofreading symbols).

With electronic documents you will receive a ‘clean’ copy and a version showing the changes made and any outstanding queries and feedback, in an easy to use format.

Prices will depend on the size of the document and the level of proofreading required.

Thorough discussions prior to work starting will ensure that we both understand the work to be undertaken and the costs involved, with no hidden extras.

If the document is more than 5,000 you can request a sample edit of up to 500 words. If more than 10,000 words I suggest 2 x 500 words, taken from the start and end of the document. The charge for a sample edit would be £8 per 500 words.
